Nearly 1/2 billion dollars are up for grabs in Friday night's Mega Millions drawing.

The progressive Mega Millions jackpot has been growing since January, when it was won four times, starting with a massive jackpot win of $1.348 billion Jan. 13, 2023.

According to the Michigan Lottery, the last time the jackpot was won in Michigan was in January 2021, when an Oakland County lottery club won $1.05 billion, setting a record for the largest jackpot win in the state's history.

Mega Millions is a multi-state lottery game, with tickets being sold in 45 states, Washington D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Drawings take place twice a week — on Tuesday and Friday. Mega Millions play costs $2, but players have an option of spending an additional $1 per play for an opportunity to multiply non-jackpot prizes.

Mega Millions tickets can be purchased online at MichiganLottery.com and at any of the lottery’s 10,500 retailers around the state until 10:45 p.m. the day of the drawing.
