Mega Millions Jackpot Jumps to $1.35 Billion for Tonight’s Drawing
The Mega Millions jackpot has jumped to $1.35 billion for tonight’s drawing. The cash option for the drawing has increased to $659.5 million.
If a player wins tonight’s Mega Millions jackpot, it would be the largest Mega Millions jackpot won this year, topping a $1.348 billion jackpot won in January by a player in Maine. The Mega Millions jackpot was last won in April, when one ticket purchased in New York matched the five white balls and Mega ball to win a $20 million jackpot.
Tonight’s drawing will be the 31st drawing since the jackpot was last won. In those drawings, more than 31.3 million tickets have won prizes across all nine prize tiers. In Michigan, a lucky player won $1 million in the July 21 drawing. That winning ticket was sold at Hunter and Wayne Liquor, located at 35201 Hunter Street in Westland. Westland is about 25 miles west of Detroit.
The Mega Millions jackpot was last won in Michigan in January 2021 by an Oakland County lottery club. The club won a $1.05 billion Mega Millions jackpot. That jackpot was the largest ever won in Michigan and the eighth largest in U.S. lottery history.
Lottery retailers throughout the state are selling Mega Millions tickets until 10:45 p.m. tonight. Tickets also may be purchased online at MichiganLottery.com.
Mega Millions drawings take place each Tuesday and Friday evening. Each Mega Millions play is only $2. For an additional $1 per play, players have the opportunity to add a “Megaplier” that can multiply non-jackpot prizes by up to five times. Mega Millions tickets are sold in 45 states, Washington D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
