Massachusetts State Lottery offering new Powerball drawing on Mondays
The Massachusetts State Lottery will soon be offering a third Powerball drawing on Mondays.
Currently Powerball drawings are at 10:59 p.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays. But starting Aug. 23, drawings will also be on Mondays.
The Powerball jackpot grows each drawing until it is won. By adding another drawing, the jackpots may grow larger much faster.
Although the odds of winning won’t change.
“Players will continue to choose five numbers from 1 to 69 and one Powerball number from 1 to 26,” the Lottery said in a statement. “The Power Play add-on feature will still be available for an additional $1 per play to multiply non-jackpot prizes.”
All 48 participating U.S. lotteries will sell tickets for the Powerball drawings on Monday nights, the Lottery said.
There is no broadcast partner in Massachusetts. Instead, those interested can see the drawn numbers appear on the Powerball website or watch online through the game’s YouTube channel.
Four Powerball jackpot winning tickets have been sold in Massachusetts since the Massachusetts State Lottery began offering the game in 2010, the Lottery said. A $758.7 million jackpot prize won in 2017.
The Powerball jackpot is an estimated $274 million as of Tuesday.
