Macau introduced the new Electronic Gaming Machine Technical Standards version 2.0 as of September 1. All slot machines will have to be equipped with a feature that many gamblers may not like at first.
All slot machines in Macau's casinos will have to include a clock. The clock will be an "intermittently flashing clock" that shows the current local time. Operators have until December 2024 to have all machines retrofitted with the clocks. Any new slot being brought in will need to be fitted with it.
Clocks are not allowed on slot machines in Macau. The new Electronic Gaming Machine Technical Standards version 2.0 require them. It is likely that the clock will be ignored by gamblers. The responsible gaming initiatives are being introduced everywhere. More casinos around the world are going to include similar options.
