Macau Confirms Closure of Suncity VIP Rooms in the City

Suncity Group's VIP gaming rooms in Macau have been closed. The junket operator's former head, Alvin Chau, was arrested on Saturday for organizing illegal gambling.
Suncity Group has temporarily suspended operations in Macau casinos. MGM Resorts International stopped working with Suncity. Macao's gaming regulator didn't mention how many VIP rooms had been closed and what would happen with their staff. Sun City Group announced that staff dismissals were coming. The group is involved in gaming operations and has a variety of local industries, including travel and restaurants. Maca's Labour Affairs Bureau is concerned about the possible impact on its workforce.
Suncity has closed its VIP rooms in Macau. Casinos in the city and in Australia are focusing more on mass gaming revenue. MGM CFO Jonathan Halkyard said junket operations don't play a critical role in casino's health.
