Macau casinos had a slow slide in December. It was the second year of negative growth.
Macau's annual revenue for 2020 is MOP60.4 billion ($7.56 billion), down 79.3% from 2019's total. It's the second straight year of negative growth. Macau has just imposed a ban on visitors arriving from mainland China. Beijing recently amended its criminal law to include stiff penalties for casino junket operators. 30 people were detained following the disruption of a suspected illegal point-of-sale (POS) machine operation. It employed handheld POS terminals modified to make it seem as if retail transactions were occurring on the mainland.
