A 36-year-old man was left in disbelief after bagging over £250,000 at a Leeds casino on his first visit.

Richard took to Grosvenor Casinos, in Wellington Bridge Street, on November 25, after work with his colleagues.

They played Blackjack and he quickly settled into the game before he was hit with the jackpot dealt with one of the "rarest hands" in the game, a player and dealer Suited Ace-King.

Richard, who took home £258,750, has said he will be putting the money towards a deposit so he can buy a house with his girlfriend.

The huge prize money also means he can join his dad on a golf trip to Las Vegas planned for next year.

He said: “If I’m honest when I was playing, I didn’t realise I had won the jackpot.

"My friend had to tell me I had won and even then, I simply couldn’t believe what was happening to me and I couldn’t believe the amount I had won either.

"It didn’t feel real and on top of it all, it was the first time I had set foot in the Leeds Westgate casino, so it really was my lucky night.

"I would like to say a massive thank you to all the Grosvenor Casino staff too who helped me celebrate in style.”

Richard wasn’t the only person to bag a huge win while at the casino last month.

Keith Biggin, who learnt to play Blackjack in Las Vegas, won £50,557 with the same hand as Richard.

The 47-year-old said: “The whole table started cheering and jumping up and down as they realised I won the jackpot, especially as this meant that all of them won £500 as well.

"We ordered a bottle of champagne and celebrated together.”

Keith and his wife are still in shock at the idea of being a big jackpot winner and haven’t decided yet what they would like to do with the money.

Cath Riley, general manager at Grosvenor Casino Leeds Westgate, said: “We are so pleased for our two customers here at Grosvenor Casinos Leeds Westgate.

"It has been a lucky week for the club and a week for the history books I’m sure with over £300,000 won and with such a rare hands too.

"We can only hope that this luck continues and that our guests will get to celebrate more wins both here and in our other venues across the UK.”
