Live! Casino Pittsburgh is expected to open by the end of the year

A casino in western Pennsylvania is hoping to open later this year.
Live! Casino Pittsburgh is being built in Hempfield Township, Westmoreland County, approximately 30 miles from downtown Pittsburgh.
“Due to the many unknowns that the COVID pandemic can create, we have not yet announced an official grand opening date,” Doug Haniford, advertising and public relations manager at Live! Casino – Pittsburgh said in an e-mail. “However, we are targeting to be open before the end of the year.”
The 100,000-square-foot facility will cost $150-million and is expected to employ 500 people in addition to the 960 people during construction.
The casino will have around 750 slots machines that will feature Wheel of Fortune, Double Diamond, Blazing 7s and Game of Thrones among other choices.
There will be approximately 30 live-action table games, which will include blackjack, craps, roulette and baccarat.
The casino will also have a sportsbook operated by FanDuel.
Sports & Social Steel City, a 22,000-square-foot sports restaurant, gaming venue and social lounge will be the main venue for dining and entertainment. The 445-seat, two-level venue will include a giant 45-foot high LED video screen, and a wide variety of interactive social games, such as bowling, a golf simulator, ping pong, darts and more.
The casino will also have 7,000 square feet of space available for social and corporate gatherings.
The casino is being built at the Westmoreland Mall in a former Bon-Ton store, according to triblive.com.
Last month, Joe Billhimer was named executive vice president of Live! Casino Pittsburgh as well as Live! Casino Philadelphia, which is expected to open early next year at 900 Packer Ave. in Philadelphia.
The casino is owned by The Cordish Companies, which is based in Baltimore.
