Kelowna man turns $5 slot wager into over $1M just 20 minutes after entering casino
Joshua Alexander had only been inside Playtime Casino Kelowna for 20 minutes before his life changed forever.
The local resident was playing on a Powerbucks progressive slot machine with his cousin next to him and his girlfriend looking on when he hit it big.
Big would be an understatement even, as Alexander won a massive $1,032,361.83 jackpot on a $5.25 wager.
“(My girlfriend) started freaking out, and I thought it was a prank of something,” he explained. “My cousin thought I broke the machine.”
You would have to imagine that some of his winnings will go to his dad, as it was his idea to go have some fun at the casino that night.
“He wanted to go, so I was like ‘sure,’ and my girlfriend and cousin came with us,” said Alexander. “It was a restless night for us after we came home, our minds were blown.”
Kelowna’s newest millionaire is ready to check off some bucket list destinations now that money is far less of a concern.
He said that some of his winnings will go toward dream vacations in Mexico, Australia and California.
