Kelowna man's 'mind was blown' after winning $1M on a slot machine
A Kelowna man is now a millionaire after landing an enormous lottery win recently.
Joshua Alexander was at Playtime Casino Kelowna for just 20 minutes when his $5.25 wager on a Powerbucks slot machine won him a stunning $1,032,361.83 jackpot on July 29, 2022, according to a media release by the B.C. Lottery Corporation.
He was playing the slot machine next to his cousin and girlfriend when it happened.
“She started freaking out, and I thought it was a prank or something,” Alexander said in the release. “My cousin thought I broke the machine.”
The game is one of two linked slot machines in Playtime Casino Kelowna offering players the chance to trigger bonuses and win cash or even the progressive jackpot, which starts at $1 million and grows as players place bets across participating B.C. and Canadian casinos, said BCLC.
The decision to go have fun at the casino that night was his dad’s idea.
“He wanted to go, so I was like sure, and my girlfriend and cousin came with us,” Alexander said. “It was a restless night for us after we came home, our minds were blown.”
The lucky winner plans to use some of his winning to go to dream vacations in Mexico, Australia and California.
