Katy Perry Gets Key To Las Vegas Strip, As Resorts World Celebrates Anniversary

Katy Perry received a key to the Las Vegas Strip in June. The ceremony symbolically unlocks the one-year anniversary of Resorts World Las Las Nevada. It is the most expensive hotel-casino in Nevada history at $4.3 billion. Perry is performing at the Resort World Theatre through August 13. She will perform at another show over eight days in the fall, beginning October 5.
Resorts World Las Vegas was the first new major hotel-casino on the Strip since late 2010. The center-Strip Cosmopolitan towers over the older Jockey Club near the Bellagio. Resort World’s grand opening one year ago signaled a revival of the north end of Las Las Vellas Strip.
Resorts World was built where the Stardust Casino once stood. The Stardus was illegally overseen by Frank "Lefty" Rosenthal, a Chicago Outfit associate. It was depicted in the 1995 Las Vegas Mafia movie "Casino". In the movie, the name of the casino was changed to the Tangiers.
