Jay-Z In Times Square Casino State Of Mind
Jay-Z and his Roc Nation entertainment agency are involved in a Times Square casino project. The project is a three-way partnership involving Jay-z's company, SL Green development firm and Caesars Entertainment. Saratoga Casino and Raceway has added its bid to the Coney Island casino license selection process. It is one of the New York City-area casino licenses being dangled by the State Gaming Commission.
The group of investors has estimated the casino could bring an additional 7 million visits annually to Times Square and 600,000 new overnight stays at local hotels. The Broadway League has announced its opposition to the 1515 Broadway project. The group suggests the Casino could boost theater ticket sales on Broadway.
The GFLB will issue a Request for Applications for interested applicants by Jan. 6. The board will have wide powers and will decide the license fee. The partners in the Coney Island project are Saratoga Casino Holdings, the Chickasaw Nation, and Legends Entertainment, a joint venture with investors that include the New York Yankees and Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones.
