Iron Mountain Man Wins $100,000 On Powerball Lottery Game

An Iron Mountain man woke up to the surprise of a lifetime after winning a $100,000 Powerball prize from the Michigan Lottery.
Timothy Torgersen, of Iron Mountain, matched the four white balls and the Powerball – 06-28-47-58-59 PB: 18 – in the April 2 drawing to win a $50,000 prize. Thanks to the Power Play, the prize was multiplied to $100,000. He bought his winning ticket at online at MichiganLottery.com.
“I usually buy a Powerball ticket the night before the drawing,” said Torgersen. “I woke up the morning after the drawing to an email from the Lottery saying I had won a prize, but it didn’t show the amount I’d won. When I logged on to my account and saw it was a $100,000 prize, I couldn’t believe it. I was in shock the rest of the day!”
Torgersen, 62, visited Lottery headquarters recently to claim his prize. With his winnings, he plans complete home improvements and then save the remainder.
“I was off work for about a year, so this prize came at the perfect time and makes up for the year I was off work,” said Torgersen.
The Powerball jackpot was last won on Feb. 14. One ticket bought in Connecticut won the $185.3 million jackpot. The current jackpot stands at $325 million.
Powerball plays may be purchased for $2 each at Lottery retailers across the state and online at MichiganLottery.com.
A “Power Play” option that multiplies non-jackpot prizes by up to 10 times to a maximum of $2 million may be added to any Powerball play for only $1. For an additional $1 per play, Double Play may be added to a Powerball ticket, giving players a second chance to win up to $10 million in the nightly Double Play drawing.
