To play, simply choose five numbers from 1 to 69, which will be the white balls. Then, select one number (your Powerball selection) from 1 to 26, which will be a red ball. Alternatively, you can let the terminal randomly select your numbers via the Quick Pick tool.
Standard PA Powerball tickets are $2 a piece, although you always have the power to select the $1 Power Play option. The Power Play feature can multiply non-jackpot prizes by 2, 3, 4, 5, or even 10 times. The multiplier number is randomly selected prior to each drawing.
You even have the ability to purchase multiple tickets to increase your chances of winning.
So how do you win the Powerball? Well, you need to match all five white balls in order as well as the red Powerball.

If you or someone else is lucky enough to win the life-changing Powerball jackpot, the payout is awarded in one of two ways. See below:
- 30 graduated payments over 29 years
- A lump-sum payment
Jackpot winners have exactly 30 days to choose the method in which they want to be paid. The prize money is subject to both federal and state taxes, regardless what method is chosen.
You will receive less money by choosing to be paid in one lump sum, however it may be the best option considering it’s impossible to forecast how the next 29 years will play out.
