Foundation is a new technology that tracks play in slot machines and allows that data to be interfaced to other systems. It will integrate land-based and online slots. BetMGM Casino and WynnBET Casino use it to integrate their loyalty programs.

Modern technology is helping casinos improve efficiency. Slots are a core product for US online casinos. In Pennsylvania, online slots generated $67 million of the commonwealth’s $101 million in online gambling revenue during May 2021.

As of Thursday, 5,000 of the US’s 900,00 slot machines already have Foundation installed.

Casinos get billions of data points per year. Most casinos will create a dual path, where the existing loyalty programs remain in place while a migration to the new mobile loyalty program occurs.

Foundation introduced its technology to slot machines this year on June 24. Noah expects Foundation to add cashless gaming on over 40,000 machines by early 2022.

Modern technology is helping casinos improve efficiency. Casinos are eager to adopt this technology.

Noah says that after adopting Foundation, casinos get real-time data that won't interfere with their existing data-gathering methods.

Casinos have antiquated technology. No real-time player data is available from the slot machines.

Noah says that with Foundation, retail casinos can offer just one app for everything from slots to sports betting.

Foundation allows casinos to integrate data from the physical and online environments. It allows them to create special offers or jackpots for players who deposit more money.

Foundation is already showing results in optimizing drink vouchers. Noah cited Circa Resort and Casino’s play-based drink voucher.

Foundation is installed on all of the casino’s bar-top video poker machines. It tracks both ‘coin-in” and “time on device“ and automatically prints a free drink voucher for players who achieve certain levels of both of these metrics. Foundation has printed tens of thousands of vouchers over the past couple of months.

Noah shares some stories of Foundation’s success. One tribal casino's player tracking system didn't match the physical count, but after installing Foundation, the count aligned perfectly. Two casinos in the same state employed Foundation on 4,000 slot machines for cashless gaming.

Foundation has to get complex regulatory approvals for Foundation anytime it enters a new jurisdiction or deploys a functionality. The approval and launch of cashless is a major milestone for them.

John Acres is the inventor of casino systems technology. Noah's father started working on improving slot machines in 1972.

John Acres started three companies before Acre Manufacturing. He created the progressive jackpot system, the loyalty card system and the instant bonuses system. John Acrores was inducted into the Gaming Hall of Fame in 2016.

In 1981, Electronic Data Technologies (EDT) tracked slot machine players by using loyalty cards. In 1986 Mikohn devised the modern progressive jackpot system. Acres Gaming invented a system in 1992 in which slot machines awarded instant bonuses based on current or accumulated play.

The public doesn't revere slot machines as much as it does casinos. Acres adds back end functionality to streamline things for the casinos and improve efficiency.

The slot machine is ubiquitous and reliable. Modern technology is helping casinos improve their efficiency. Slots are not sexy but they are good for the bottom line. They are more attractive to those with an eye for efficiency than to the general public.
