How Far Is Red Rock Casino From The Strip? (Las Vegas)
The Red Rocks Casino Resort and Spa is a great option for a girl’s trip, couple’s getaway, or family weekend. It’s located just 15-20 minutes from the airport and a short Uber drive from the Vegas Strip. After my recent stay, I highly recommend Red Rocks for anyone looking for a Vegas experience at a good price away from the crowds. Check out my review to see why it should be at the top of your list for your next Vegas trip.
How Far Is Red Rock Casino From The Strip in Las Vegas?
Red Rocks is located 11 miles from the Las Vegas Strip. It offers a different experience from the crowded and busy atmosphere of the strip. However, it is easily accessible with a 15-20 minute drive from the airport. You can get there by rental car, Uber, or taxi. Red Rocks is also close to the Red Rocks National Conservation Area, offering beautiful views of the Red Rock Hills. Every morning, visitors can enjoy the scenic drive in the park.
Property:
Red Rocks Casino Resort offers a compact resort complex with a casino featuring various games and a pool complex with private cabanas.
Upon arrival at the resort, guests are greeted by a modern lobby design with check-in desks and a bar. After checking in, guests can take the elevator to one of the towers with around 800 hotel rooms. It’s important to note that there are only two elevator banks in the tower, one at the beginning and one in the middle leading to the pool area. Guests with rooms at the other end of the floor may have to walk a considerable distance from the lobby elevator bank to their room.
After climbing the stairs, visitors will encounter a Starbucks and the entrance to the Casino area. Sit-down restaurants and lounges are located throughout the casino, with access points to the pool area and spa also available.
Casino:
Red Rocks has a large casino, spanning over 118,000 square feet with all the classic games like roulette, blackjack, craps, and poker. The casino offers a variety of minimum bet options ranging from $10 to $25. Additionally, there are 2,800 slot machines available, including penny slots and more advanced options. Players can also enjoy table games with either computerized versions or live dealers.
Pool Area:
The main attraction of the Red Rocks Resort is the pool area, which spans 3 acres and includes pools of various sizes, a fountain, loungers, day beds, and 19 private cabanas. Guests can enjoy food, drinks, and gaming at the pool bar. Outside food and drinks are not allowed, except for food from hotel establishments. The Sand Bar offers a variety of food and drinks, and servers are available around the pool area to take orders and deliver them to guests.
The pool area is family-friendly, with a separate private 21+ and 18+ area. To enter, you must rent a cabana for the day. Cabana prices range from $150 to $400 on weekdays and weekends, but can be as high as $700 on holiday weekends. You can reserve a cabana in advance by calling the concierge. Each cabana rental includes water, soft drinks, fruit, pastries, and candy for up to 6 people. A cabana host will serve your needs and you can order food from the Sand Bar. Bottle service is available, and we enjoyed Tito’s Vodka and mixers during our visit.
Visitors have the option of choosing more affordable daybed rentals instead of cabanas at the beach club. There are also free lounge chairs available, but it’s worth noting that they tend to fill up quickly, especially the shaded ones, at 9am.
Restaurants:
The resort offers a variety of food options for guests. Some of the sit-down restaurants include a steakhouse, Italian, and sushi. I enjoyed a delicious brunch at Lucky Penny with classic dishes like Eggs Benedict and Lemon Ricotta Pancakes. All the restaurants have a full bar with cocktails, wines, and beer available.
The Sandbar Grille is the restaurant that caters to the pool area. They offer standard sandwiches, burgers, and appetizers like Mediterranean platters and nachos. It’s best to get a pitcher for drinks when in a large group. Our preferred drink was Long Island Ice Teas.
Various bars and lounges can be found around the casino, such as the Onyx Bar with signature cocktails and the Flying Pig Lounge offering a Southern ambiance. Additionally, like many Vegas casinos, complimentary drinks are served to patrons gambling on the floor.
The resort offers a variety of dining options including a food court with pizza, sandwiches, fast food, and ice cream. Additionally, there are two Starbucks on the property for breakfast. For convenience, guests can also utilize 24-hour room service for food delivery to their rooms at any time.
Other Amenities:
Complimentary valet parking was provided for guests, with efficient service to retrieve their cars quickly.
Wi-Fi is available for free throughout the resort and common areas, requiring users to log in every 24 hours.
The Red Rocks Resort has a full spa on-site. We tried the manicure/pedicure service and had a positive experience. The spa chairs were clean, the service was top-notch, and the polish lasted longer than usual. Prices were higher, but could be conveniently charged to the room.
Rooms:
We booked two Luxury Two Queens Rooms at the hotel, and they were very nice. The rooms were spacious and had two queen beds, a sitting area with a view of the red rocks, a desk, a large closet, and plenty of storage space. The sheets and comforter were soft and the pillows were comfortable. I slept well every night. These rooms are suitable for a family of four with small or tween-sized children.
The rooms come with a stocked minibar and snacks. The minibar has sensors that detect if something has been moved and will charge the room accordingly. You cannot move items in the minibar to store your own belongings. A mini-fridge can be rented for $15 a day, but it is free if you need it for medication that needs to be refrigerated.
The bathroom in the room was a favorite feature. It was spacious with two sinks, a large mirror, and a lit-up makeup mirror. The toilet had a sliding door for privacy. The shower had a rain showerhead and luxurious toiletry products. The fluffy, oversized towels were a plus for larger individuals. The soaking bathtub was a highlight, allowing for a full body immersion. A 20-minute bubble bath in the tub was enjoyable and memorable.
Staff:
The staff at the Red Rocks resort was helpful. The concierge assisted us in reserving a cabana during a holiday weekend and even added us to a waitlist for the following day when we wanted to repeat the experience. We decided not to take up the offer when a cabana became available, but we appreciated the prompt assistance.
We had excellent service poolside during our stay. Asten, our first server, was friendly and helpful in suggesting drinks and food. She set a positive tone for our girls’ weekend. The next day, Lindsey and Michelle, our cabana hosts, ensured we were happy and energized. They made us delicious rainbow-colored drinks and answered all our questions. Our servers made our experience even more enjoyable.
Conclusion:
Should you stay: ABSOLUTELY!
The Red Rocks Casino Resort and Spa offers a luxurious Vegas experience away from the busy strip at a lower cost. It is suitable for families, friends, or couples looking to celebrate a special occasion or just get away for the weekend. The resort provides luxurious rooms, great service, a fantastic pool, top-notch dining options, and quality gambling. It is a more affordable alternative to staying on the strip. If you’re not planning to hop between casinos, consider booking a room at Red Rocks for a Vegas luxury experience without the high cost.
