Hard Rock Terre Haute casino project license not renewed; new deadline for Gary's venue
Hard Rock Terre Haute casino project license not renewed. Gary's Hard Rock Casino Northern Indiana will continue operating on an interim license renewal. The commission ordered staff to reopen the license application process for a 90-day period. Lucy Luck can reapply but she must work out deficiencies. Hard Rook also operates a casino that opened in Gary last month. It was planned to open in September 2021, but two top executives had to give up their ownership stakes in the project last year amid investigations into allegations of financial wrongdoings. Terra Hautes businessman Greg Gibson took over leadership of the new project.
Spectacle Entertainment has until July 23 to comply with the Indiana Gaming Commission. Spectacle has several issues, including not having a full executive team and an industry recognized corporate structure. The company also has some shareholders refusing to cooperate with IGC integrity rules. Hard Rock Casino Northern Indiana is open and operating in Gary thanks to the management agreement with Hard Rink International. Lucy Luck Gaming was denied a license renewal for its Terre Haute casino project.
