More than 182,000 people visited Macau during the recent 'Golden Week' holiday period. 89% of them came from mainland China. Daily average of 26,00 visitors was 32.8% higher than for the whole of September.

Macao Government Tourism Office reports that the most recent 'Golden Week' visitor figures have exceeded expectations. 37,000 visitors entered Macau on October 1, which was the second highest figure this year and the busiest since the enclave endured an eleven-day coronavirus-induced casino lockdown in July.

Hotels in Macau had an average occupancy rate of 66.7% during the Golden Week. This is 28.1% higher than the September median. China's National Health Commission had warned people to avoid long-distance travel during this period to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Macau's average daily gross gaming revenues for the first nine days of October came in at almost twice as high as the corresponding tally for September.

Macau's gross gaming revenues reached $123.68 million during Golden Week. However, it's still only around 15% to 20% of the tally for the same seven-day period in pre-coronavirus 2019.
