Gambling companies in the UK were found to have given hospitality worth almost £7,000 to a Member of Parliament from North Staffordshire. Aaron Bell MP visited England's games against the Czech Republic, Denmark and Germany as part of the European Championship in 2021. He is a member of Conservative Party. He has been given free gifts and hospitality from local gambling operators.
MPs are receiving huge sums from the gambling industry. Mr Bell was employed by bet365 before he was elected as a Member of Parliament. He has met with charity organisations to raise gambling awareness. 19 MPs from Conservative Party and 9 from Labour Party have received almost £225,000 in wages and free gifts from gambling companies since 2020. Experts and charity groups are concerned about the impartiality of MPs on gambling matters. They are worried about large number of gifts and hospitality received by local politicians.
