Almost £225,000 in wages and freebies taken from gambling industry by 28 MPs
The gambling industry is trying to influence the outcome of the white paper on gambling reform. Philip Davies, the Conservative MP for Shipley, was the biggest beneficiary of this. He accepted almost £50,000 to advise the Ladbrokes owner, Entain, on safer gambling and customer service. Entaine spent almost $41,00 on hospitality for 13 MPs over the summer. BGC spent half that sum escorting lawmakers to events including three England matches at Euro 2020, horse racing at Ascot, cricket at Lord's and the Ivor Novello awards. 28 MPs are either paid by the gambling sector or have accepted hospitality from the industry since August 2020.
Philip Davies (Con) is the top beneficiary of the gambling industry. Laurence Robertson (con) earns £33,306.60. Scott Benton earns around £7,495. Nigel Adams earns about £ 7,417.14. Aaron Bell earns over £6,955.
