With the numerous casino openings and expansions that continue across the United States, 2023 was the start of a summer promising exciting gaming and luxury accommodations to suit all tastes and budgets.

But first, we shall give a brief overview of the financial health of the US Gaming Industry.

The Financial State of the States

The commercial gaming industry is pretty good despite concerns about the financial health of American consumers, with record-breaking revenue for both sports betting and casino gaming throughout 2022.

  • Commercial casino and sports betting increased by 14% to over $60 billion, with 27 of 35 states reporting annual records for commercial gaming revenue.
  • $13.50 billion in gaming tax revenue was paid to local and state governments
  • Other taxes like income, sales and other taxes also raked in billions.

Only Mississippi, the District of Columbia and South Dakota reported a decline in the annual revenue from commercial gambling.

Interestingly, whilst the land-based casinos still dominate overall, sports betting and iGaming saw a large growth (2022), with both setting new annual records and sites like JeffBet proving popular.

Of course, the convenience of providing a full range of online casino games in an environment that is safe and secure, where Americans can play at any time and from any place they choose, ticks all the boxes for people who lead busy lives. For some punters, convenience is the name of today's game.

The geographically smaller iGaming market revenue reached just over $5 billion, which is an impressive 35% increase year on year. It should also be noted that iGamings growth came without any new states launching in 2022.

Sports betting revenue soared over 60% yearly, with Americans reportedly betting $93.4 billion on sports throughout 2022.

Still, the land-based venues have the biggest pull and below are a few of the most recent new US casinos.

What Can Visitors Expect from the Newest US Casinos?

From luxurious accommodation to fine dining and entertainment, 2023 has seen the establishment of some land-based casinos that will suit most punters' tastes and gambling styles.

  • On August 24th 2023, The Queen of Baton Rouge opened its doors. Located near the Mississippi River and the Louisiana State Capitol, The Queen of Baton Rouge boasts more than 100,000 square feet of casino space.

There are also over 6,000 square feet of event and meeting space available. The existing, popular riverboat casino moved to a larger version of its atrium. The valet parking area was transformed into an indoor space, and visitors can expect over 700 gaming machines, 18 gaming tables and a DraftKings Sportsbook.

For smokers, there is a dedicated patio where they can indulge, and for diners, there are three fast-food restaurants.

  • Opening its doors on September 25 2023, Rosie’s Gaming Emporium is off Interstate 95 in Emporia. With 21,000 square feet of gaming floor,  visitors can expect 150 Historic Horses Racing games (HHR) in a no-smoking area and another 150 games in a smoking area, as well as a betting area where visitor can place their bets on current and active horse races happening across the country.

For diners, there is a fast-food (casual) dining option called Rosie’s Kitchen, as well as live entertainment.

  • On a 60-acre plot, the Pawhuska Osage Casino and Hotel replaces the existing Osage Casino Pawhuska, which opened in 2003. The expanded venue has a larger gaming floor, over 260 slot machines, and 3,000 square feet of event space.

Diners can have some superb dining at the full-service restaurant, whilst the four-story hotel tower is home to 47 rooms and suites, an outdoor area with a pool, hot tub and refreshment bar. Visitors can also make use of the fitness centre.

Above are only three of the newest land-based venues that opened up in 2023, and there are more that are coming soon, like the Fontainebleau in Las Vegas, the Ayre Resort and Casino based in Jolly Harbor, Antigua and Barbuda that promise to provide exceptional entertainment in wonderful surroundings.

In Conclusion

Today, we are witnessing the largest expansion of legal gambling in the nation's history, with the performance of most active markets exceeding all expectations. All recent revenue trends indicate that the more mature markets are levelling off, whilst the most recent additions, like New York, are flying high.
