Elderly British Players Turn to Online Gaming to Tackle Loneliness and Escape Reality, New Research Finds
Elderly British players are turning to online gaming to escape reality and improve mental health. They spend an average of 8 hours a week gaming. The majority of them use mobile devices to gamble. They also prefer to play on PS4. According to the survey, elderly gamblers spend 416 hours playing video games on an annual basis.
Ofcom survey shows that in 2020, more than 60% of UK adults played some form of a video game. Elderly British players are turning to online gaming to deal with loneliness and escape reality. Coronavirus pandemic has increased gambling and gaming participation rates. 15% younger players between 16 and 29 years of age use video games as a way to socialise with their parents and grandparents. One-third of players aged 60 and older report that gaming has helped them improve their mental health.
