Durango Station Casino Resort Green-Lighted to Break Ground
Spring Valley Town Advisory Board voted in favor of Station Casinos' project to build a casino resort on vacant land southwest of the Las Vegas Strip.
The new Station Casinos casino resort will be built on a 71-acre site located on the west side of South Durango Drive and 215 Betway. It will feature 99,000 square feet of gaming space, 452 hotel rooms and 20,00 square ft of outdoor dining space. The development consists of two phases: the first one will focus on gaming and the second one on movie theater and restaurants.
The Culinary Union is against the project. The Union and Station Casinos have been at loggerheads for long. Station is focusing on the local market in Southern Nevada. The closest casino is located around five miles away. It is largely neglected from a gaming point of view. Durango Station will offer residents of the Las Vegas Valley an escape from the Strip.
The Culinary Union is playing petty politics by opposing a project that will pay millions in local taxes and create thousands of construction and permanent jobs.
