Des Moines Man Arrested for Alleged Incident at Wild Rose Casino in Jefferson
A Des Moines man was recently arrested from an alleged crime in August of 2022 at Wild Rose Casino in Jefferson.
According to court documents, on August 26, 2022 Paul Wright won a jackpot on a slot machine at Wild Rose Casino in Jefferson. As Wright was celebrating, 42-year-old Jade Leonard of Des Moines was also nearby celebrating, Wright had gotten up from the machine and Leonard took his place as Wild Rose staff came over. Leonard claimed he won the jackpot.
Court documents show that following a review by casino video surveillance footage Wright had actually won the jackpot. When Wright’s information was processed, he owed the Clerk of Court’s office in Warren, Polk, Boone and Johnson counties, as well as the city of West Des Moines $34,060. The jackpot winnings were used to pay the Iowa Department of Administrative Services Offset Program. Leonard was charged with a Class D Felony for gambling-avoid setoff.
A warrant for his arrest was issued on September 5, 2022 and he was recently arrested and booked into the Greene County Jail. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
