Delta casino celebrating first year of business
Casino has welcomed more than 627,000 guests since its official opening on Sept. 29, 2022
Prize draws, beer tastings and cake are all on the docket as Gateway Casinos & Entertainment celebrates Cascade Casino Delta’s first year in business.
Officially opened on Sept. 29, 2022, The 160,000-square-foot facility in Ladner just north of the Highway 99/17A interchange and next to Massey Tunnel features a gaming floor with 500 slot machines, 18 live table games and 24 electronic table games, plus Gateway’s signature restaurants — The Buffet, Summit Bar and Match Eatery & Public House — and an innovative 5,000-square-foot ballroom that converts into three distinct conference spaces.
The attached five-storey Delta by Marriot hotel, which opened a few months later in December of 2022, has 124 rooms and includes a day spa, resort-style outdoor pool and hot tub, and a state-of-the-art fitness centre.
Since opening its doors one year ago, Cascades Delta has established itself as a “significant influence in the community, succeeding as a premier destination for gaming, dining and entertainment,” according to a Gateway Casinos & Entertainment press release.
The casino has welcomed more than 627,688 guests, hosted 122 meetings and events in its conference space, and given away $234,955 in cash and prizes through promotions, the company said, om addition to selling 41,766 pints of beer between both Summit Bar and Match Eatery & Public House, serving more than 142,000 customers served at The Buffet, and cooking up 2,148 slow-braised beef dips at Match Eatery & Public House.
“Cascades is a full-service casino resort and a getaway for guests looking for an exceptional time – your one stop to stay and play,” Martyn Kelly, general manager of Cascades Casino Delta, said in a press release. “It’s a project that we’re proud of. We are in the business of entertainment at Gateway, but we are also very much about giving back to the community that we’re in.”
Cascades Delta will be celebrating its anniversary as a series of daily events now through Oct. 27, including “Senior Mondays” where those 65 and over receive 25 per cent off food all day and a chance to win $1,500 in free slot play, “Anniversary Extravaganza” draws for up to $888 Tuesdays and Fridays, “Run for the Money” Wednesdays and Sundays with a top prize of $6,000, “Harvest Moon Riches” dollar slot draws for up to $1,088 on Thursdays, and “Fall Fortunes” draws for up to $1,500 in free play on Saturdays.
As well, the casino will hold a special celebration on Friday, Sept. 29 — exactly one year after the casino’s official grand opening — with slots and tables “hot seat” draws for $100 in free play from 6 to 9 p.m.; Barnside Brewing tastings at Match Eatery & Public House at 7 p.m. with a DJ playing the pub at 9 p.m.; a live DJ, cake and refreshments at Summit Bar at 7 p.m.; and an “Anniversary Extravaganza” $888 draw at 8 p.m.
As part of last year’s grand opening celebrations, employees at Cascades Casino Delta chose Delta Community Foundation as the official beneficiary of the GatewayGIVES charitable donations program.
To mark the one-year anniversary, the company will be donating $1,000 to the foundation dubbed Delta’s “charity for charities.”
Delta Mayor George Harvie and Delta-South MLA Ian Paton both offered the casino their congratulations on the eve of its one-year anniversary.
“Cascades has made a tremendous impact on our local economy, tourism industry and community by providing residents and visitors with a state-of-the-art space to enjoy a variety of entertainment options. May they celebrate many more wonderful years to come,” Harvie said in a press release.
“Cascades Casino Delta created hundreds of new jobs that supported the growth of our city’s economy and tourism,” added Paton. “It’s a state-of-the-art space that has provided our community with many wonderful opportunities.”
