Cordish Reveals Plans for $1.4bn Virginia Casino Resort
Cordish Companies wants to build a $1.4bn casino resort in Petersburg, Virginia. Petersburg City Council voted to choose Cordish as the company to develop the resort. The project is not a done deal yet, as it needs approval from the Virginia General Assembly.
Cordish made a presentation at the Petersburg City Council meeting. The council got The Speller Consulting Group to look at prospective casino operator partnerships and the proposed casino site. Cordish is the preferable partner due to its track record of constructing and operating casinos in cities like Philadelphia, Kansas City, and Pittsburgh.
Cordish wants to build a $1.4bn Virginia Casino Resort. The people of Richmond voted against a casino resort last year. Last month, the state blocked the move. A study found that both Petersburg and Richmond could support casinos at the same time.
