Gambling Commission regulator has released new rules to protect at-risk consumers. The new directives are to come into force from September 12.

Gambling Commission declares that all iGaming firms licensed in the UK are to be obliged to monitor a specific range of indicators concerning gambling harms and take action on any flagged alarms.

Gambling Commission established in 2007. New regulations mandate operators to interact with consumers at least at the level of problem gambling for the relevant activity. Operators and their third-party providers are to be in compliance with fresh regulations ‘at all times’ and collect evidence on any interactions via “routine casework”.

The Gambling Commission has introduced new rules to address failings of local operators of online casino and sportsbetting sites. The regulator received 13,000 responses to a special consultation. The new regulations make the expectations even more explicit. They expect operators to tackle gambling harms with fast, proportionate and effective action.

The Gambling Commission is working closely with the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport to develop new rules to make online gambling fairer and safer.
