Codere Online begins operations in Buenos Aires
Codere Online has started operating in the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina's capital.
The online gaming and sports betting operator now offers digital services via codere.bet.ar, after it was granted an initial five-year licence byLotería de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires (LoTBA), Buenos Aires' regulator.
Gross gaming revenue generated pursuant to this licence is subject to a 10% gaming tax payable to LoTBA.
Gamblers over 18 that are located in the city will have access to Codere’s online gaming and sports betting services via their computers, tablets or mobile devices.
Moshe Edree, Managing Director of Codere Online, said: “Starting operations in the city of Buenos Aires is a critical milestone in our business plan and a complimentary opportunity to Codere Group’s strategy in Argentina, where it entered in 1992 and is currently a well-established operator with 13 bingo halls; and a strong brand awareness in the province of Buenos Aires.”
Codere opened its first bingo halls in Buenos Aires in 1992 and, by the end of the decade, it equipped it with slot machines.
Before the Covid-19 pandemic, the gaming operator had a total of 6,861 slot machines and 11,692 bingo seats, across its 13 gaming halls in Buenos Aires.
During the pandemic, meanwhile, the Argentinian business unit had to close until 14 December 2020, when Buenos Aires had authorised the reopening of the group’s gaming halls.
Codere Online currently operates in five other markets, including Spain, Italy, Mexico, Colombia and Panama.
