The game is changing for Charlotte-area gamblers as the Catawba Two Kings Casino in Kings Mountain, now featuring live table games as of June 17. The additional 12 live games, heralded as the closest live tables to the metro, are just another step in the casino's growth, already boasting an impressive roster of 1,064 slot and electronic table game seats after a recent inclusion of 64 new slot machines. As WSOC-TV reported, the live games aim to provide a more immersive gambling experience with options like craps, roulette, mini baccarat, blackjack, Mississippi stud poker, and three-card poker.

Although a $700 million casino resort is currently under development with expectations to open in early 2026, Catawba Nation isn't hesitating to continue enhancing the existing temporary structure. Catawba Nation Chief Brian Harris believes the move will significantly broaden the appeal to local and visiting gamblers. "While we are thrilled that construction is underway on our major casino resort, we are continuing to invest in our current gaming facility to broadly widen its appeal to residents and visitors to the greater Charlotte area and South Carolina," Harris said, in a statement obtained by IndianGaming.com.

The live table games kicked off after the Catawba Nation celebrated a ceremonial groundbreaking earlier in the month for the forthcoming resort. The current facility, a mere 35 miles from downtown Charlotte, has expanded rapidly since its July 2021 opening, when it started with 500 slot machines. Subsequent expansions in December 2021, and later additions like a retail sportsbook and dining area, leveraged modular structures to cater to these growth spurts, as per WBTV.

Supporting the casino's latest advancement is the creation of approximately 135 new jobs, including positions for dealers, supervisors, and management. In preparing to deal the first hand, the casino hosted a free dealer school in Kings Mountain, bringing the casino’s workforce to over 400 employees. Chief Harris expects that the live table games "will be very popular and give people who have not been to the casino a great reason to visit," as he told IndianGaming.com. The larger resort, when completed, reportedly will generate nearly 2,000 new job opportunities, fortifying its position as a significant employment hub in the region.
