Even though COVID-19 restrictions have eased and things have started to return to normal, the aftermath of the pandemic continues to rear its head.

This morning, Chances Casino Kelowna announced they have made the difficult decision to discontinue Bingo operations.

With declining attendance over the years and the shutdown of operations, the Casino admits that Bingo is no longer a viable option.

Following its 16-month closure, Chances used their bingo hall as a way to socially distance slot machines in order to support the only offering they had at the time.

While they were fortunate enough to re-emerge after the closure, they were unable to bring staff back up to the level required to operate the large hall.

“I’m proud to have been a part of the Bingo world in Kelowna since opening the Kelowna Bingo Palace at Blue Heights Park in 1985,” said owner, Stan Walt.

“We’ve had some incredible Bingo events over the past 35 years. Seeing Bingo unable to re-open is very difficult and I know many people will be very upset not to see it return to Chances Casino Kelowna.”</who>Photo credit: Chances Kelowna FacebookHe added: “The past two years have seen many casualties in the business world and Bingo at Chances is now one of them.”

Those who have remaining ScanPal accounts and points are able to convert their rewards into free slot play, and those who won Bingo Bucks in 2020 will be honoured with Chances Bucks.

With no plans to re-open bingo at Chances anytime soon, bingo players can still dab their cards at the Kelowna Senior Citizens Society or at PlayNow Online Bingo.
