Chances Casino Abbotsford Staff Agree to New Terms
Chances Casino Abbotsford management and its workers have agreed to a new collective agreement. The previous contract would have reduced benefits and offered them almost minimum wages. Playtime Gaming issued a lockout notice to its personnel on June 14, 2021.
The USW Local 2009 bargaining committee has put a lot of effort into making the company reconsider its wage and benefit offers. After two days of protesting, the union managed to agree to new terms with the gaming corporation. The collective agreement offers an 8% increase in wages for the staff members in the next three years of the contract.
Chances Casino Abbotsford organizes charitable events every year to gather financing for local groups and communities in need. Every July the facility hosts its traditional food bank event. In 2019, the event took place on Canada Day and everyone was welcome to enjoy a free pancake breakfast. The feast stretched to the evening and Red 21 Tap + Grill provided delicious barbeque for CA$6.
British Columbia is reopening its gaming facilities after almost 15 months of no in-person gambling. The local government announced its new economic recovery plan. According to it, gaming properties and nightclubs will be allowed to relaunch operation as early as July 1.
