Both of southeastern Connecticut's casinos posted healthy year-over-year increases in slot-machine revenue Friday.

Mohegan Sun reported it “won,” or kept, $43.4 million after paying out prizes last month, a 7.8% increase over the $40.2 million it kept in September 2020. Foxwoods Resort Casino kept $31 million last month, up 12.1% over the $27.6 million it kept the same month a year ago.

The casinos contributed 25% of their slots wins to the state. Mohegan Sun’s contribution was $10.9 million and Foxwoods’ was $7.8 million.

The casinos launched on-site sportsbooks on Sept. 30, and currently are in the midst of a weeklong “soft” launch of online sports betting and casino gaming, which features online versions of most casino tables games as well as slots.

Barring any unforeseen glitches, the online betting platforms are expected to be fully available next week.
