Mohegan Sun kept $40.7 million in slot-machine revenue last month, while Foxwoods Resort Casino kept $28.2 million.

For both casinos, the November “wins” were well up over the same month a year ago, when Mohegan Sun kept $28.5 million and Foxwoods kept $21.8 million. Mohegan Sun was up 42.9% while Foxwoods was up 29.3%.

In November 2020, COVID-19 was surging and the start of vaccinations was a month away.

Jeff Hamilton, Mohegan Sun’s president and general manager, said Wednesday he was pleased with his casino’s November performance but noted slots revenue was down 11% from pre-pandemic numbers in November 2019, when it kept $45.8 million.

“We’re not all the way back, but we’re in a much better place,” he said.

The casinos introduced on-site sports betting in temporary spaces Sept. 30 and launched online sports betting and online gaming in October. Hamilton said there’s been some indication that the availability of sports betting has led some patrons to extend their stays and table-games play.

Foxwoods opened a permanent sportsbook last month. Mohegan Sun plans to open a permanent sportsbook sometime before February’s Super Bowl.

Mohegan contributed $10.2 million of its November slots win to the state, while Foxwoods’ contribution came to $7 million.
