Caesars Plans Opening Of Horseshoe Lake Charles Casino

Since closing for more than two years due to the pandemic and damage from Hurricane Laura, the former Isle of Capri Lake Charles will officially reopen as Horseshoe Lake Charles on Dec. 12, 2022.
The doors to Horseshoe Lake Charles will open for the first time at noon that day, pending final Louisiana Gaming Control Board approval.
The all-new 60,000-square-foot property will bring the Horseshoe brand to southwest Louisiana. The new property will have nearly 1,000 slot machines and table games, an official WSOP Poker Room, a Caesars Sportsbook, and 253 hotel rooms.
Horseshoe Lake Charles will also have a Gordon Ramsay Steak restaurant in mid-2023.
“When we closed the Isle of Capri in 2020, we were not expecting the property to be shut down for this length of time,” said Anthony Carano, President and COO of Caesars Entertainment. “But we couldn’t be prouder of our team and all of the hard work they’ve put into this beautiful property. We look forward to welcoming our partners and the community to celebrate with us as we commemorate this milestone and introduce them to Horseshoe Lake Charles.”

Caesars Entertainment has been doubling down on its Horseshow brand in other state markets. The brand has existed since 1951. There are now 10 Horseshoe-branded casinos across the U.S., the casino company said.
Horseshoe Lake Charles is one of 24 casinos in the Pelican State, according to the American Gaming Association. The properties generate around $3 billion a year in gambling revenue.
The state kicked off retail sports betting about a year after voters approved it on a parish-by-parish basis in a November 2020 referendum. Overall, 55 of the 64 parishes allow sports gambling online.
The state has nearly 20 sportsbooks, with eight of them being online operators. In nearly a year of online sports betting in the state, more than $1 billion has been wagered.
