The Telecommunication Regulator of Cambodia (TRC) collaborated with the National Police to shut down 123 websites operated illegal online gambling and lottery in Cambodia.

In a press statement on January 27, TRC said it had also shut 79 of such websites on November 16 last year.

“TRC will continue to work with the National Police and relevant authorities in charge of telecommunication operations to shut down all the websites that operate online gambling and lottery as they are illegal and against the government’s circular,” it said.

The government issued a circular on August 16, 2019, to control online electronic and internet-based gambling operating from abroad and inside the country, with the intention of maintaining security and public order.

TRC called on the public to report to them through the hotline 6789 or through their Facebook should they witness online gambling and lottery, noting that their identities will be kept confidential.
