Activists protest against legalization of casinos in Kyrgyzstan
AKIPRESS.COM - Activists gathered near white house in Bishkek on June 22 to protest against the legalization of casinos.
Activist Jyldyz Shakekova said that this bill is against the people by design.
"The bill legalizes online casinos, advertising of casinos in the media, on the radio and TV. It's all going to cause huge social problems. There are a bunch of other ways to refill the budget. You can do it in more economic ways, then we will be able to achieve a prosperous society having a multiplier effect," she said.
By implementing economic projects, we can address social problems, she noted.
She fears that online casinos are hard to control and teenagers and the vulnerable will be able to gamble.
Another civil activist Azamat Amanov fears that with the legalization of casinos, which were banned 5 years ago in Kyrgyzstan, the number of suicides and other social issues will only grow.
