Abingdon Player’s Appetite Helps her Gobble Up $100,000 Lottery Win
ABINGDON, MARYLAND – A Harford County resident has her appetite to thank for her biggest Lottery win to date. While awaiting a soup-and-sandwich combo, the lucky woman decided to use her spare $20 to buy a few FAST PLAY tickets. The Abingdon player purchased two $5 tickets and one $10 Lucky Numbers ticket and is now celebrating a $103,472 progressive jackpot win.
The 64-year-old bought her meal and tickets at Wawa #581 located at 3500 Woodsdale Road in Abingdon. She scanned her tickets later that day, using a Maryland Lottery app on her smartphone, and saw her big win in the Lucky Numbers game.
“This is crazy,” the happy winner said in a text to her husband. “I think I’ve won the big prize!” He was just as happy and surprised as she was. Besides sharing the news with her husband of 40 years, the winner also shared the great news with a few other immediate family members.
Having worked as a government contractor for the past 45 years, the happy player said her prize allows her to plan her retirement. She also plans to pay bills, which includes paying off loans on two vehicles.
Also with reason to celebrate is the Abingdon Wawa, which receives a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery for its role in selling a winning FAST PLAY ticket of $100,000 or more. FAST PLAY has 18 games to choose from and the Lucky Numbers game still has 22 progressive jackpots awaiting discovery.
