Baltimore County Man Wins $116K with FAST PLAY poker-themed ticket
BALTIMORE, MARYLAND – A retired Baltimore transit worker is flush with success after winning a $116,881 progressive jackpot in the FAST PLAYWorld Championship Poker® game.
The 71-year-old Gwynn Oak resident told Lottery officials that he retired after several decades driving Baltimoreans around the city. Going out to an area store to make an occasional Lottery purchase became something to look forward to – even more so with the recent pandemic and stay-home culture.
“Getting out to get a ticket every now and again became an excuse to get out of the house,” said the winner.
The Baltimore County resident purchased one of the Lottery’s FAST PLAY tickets on a recent trip at the beginning of November. Although he selected the $5 World Championship Poker® game, the lucky winner confessed that he doesn’t know much about playing cards. He had played the FAST PLAY poker-themed ticket a few times before and liked it, so he purchased a third ticket that fateful afternoon.
Later that night, while checking a batch of tickets using the Lottery’s smartphone app, he saw a number on the World Championship Poker® ticket that made him jump out of his chair and rush upstairs to his wife. “I thought there must have been a mistake. My hands were shaking as I tried to show her the prize amount,” he said.
This was the first progressive jackpot-winning ticket sold in the game, which offers players a chance to find one of the 14 remaining progressive jackpots or prizes ranging from $5 to $5,000.
The winner said he plans to save his prize money, but will use a portion to celebrate the holidays with his family. “With the holidays just ahead of us, the win came at the right time.”
The home of his lucky purchase was Quick Mart located at 7410 Windsor Mill Road in Windsor Mill. For selling a progressive jackpot-winning FAST PLAY ticket worth $100,000 or more, the lucky retailer has earned a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery.FAST PLAY, Winnerswindsor mill, FAST PLAY, world championship poker← Happy Winner Hugs Store Clerk after $50,000 Scratch-off Win
