U.S. illegal gambling robbing states of $13.3b tax annually: AGA
Americans are gambling about $511 billion a year on illegal websites. It costs the legal gaming sector $44.2 billion in annual revenue. AGA commissioned The Innovation Group to carry out the report. The report was based on a survey of 5,284 adults.
$337.9 billion was wagered on illegal iGaming websites. The illegal market is three times the size of the legal market. Only six states have legalised online casinos. Americans bet $63.8 billion on illegally run bookies and offshore sports betting sites. Sports betting is now legal in 36 states and the District of Columbia.
