UK Gambling Minister says reform is "long overdue," warns "too many" operators are failing on protection
UK Gambling Minister Chris Philp is calling for a gaming reform. He is responsible for the Gabbling Reform Rally organized by the APPG and Peers for G gambling Reform. PhilP is working on a white paper on the 2005 G betting act review. The report identified 409 gambling-related suicides a year. iGaming barely existed in 2005. New evidence points to a rise in gaming harm. Government introduced a ban on gambling using credit cards two years ago. It also announced a commitment to get 15 gambling clinics opened over the next couple of years.

PhilP is working with UKGC officials to try and figure out changes. The Minister also wants to use big data to help protect the public. It is necessary to have a regulator with the powers to analyze the data.
The UK Gambling Commission is set to publish its enhanced requirements for customer interaction. The government and the UKGC will use data shared as part of the Single Customer View to check on a customer’s financial circumstances. The checks would be reserved for cases that demand them. Philip warns that too many operators are failing on protection.
