Two new casinos in Virginia would be better than one. Petersburg and Richmond could support a casino separately or together.
Richmond and Petersburg are planning to open casinos. Joint Legislative Audit and Review Commission found that both locations will benefit from the development. However, some lawmakers are against the idea. They believe that the Petersburg casino will be more profitable than the Richmond one. The two casinos could boost state gaming revenue by $1.1bn in 2028. They will also create more jobs. Sen. Joe Morrissey thinks that Petersburg should focus on opening a new casino in Petersburg.
