This Week in Gambling: Time for Las Vegas to play ball
This Week in Gambling centers on a new game in town for Las Vegas. No, not another new casino game, but rather America’s pastime, baseball. This is following the announcement at the end of last week that the Oakland Athletics are packing up and moving to Sin City.
The A’s have finalized an agreement to buy a 49-acre piece of land near the Excalibur Hotel and Casino and New York-New York Hotel & Casino off Interstate 15, across from T-Mobile Arena, home of the Las Vegas Golden Knights. The $1.5 billion stadium, which will have a retractable roof and seat 30,000 fans, is scheduled to open in the spring of 2027.
“We have a path in Las Vegas that can put the franchise on solid footing,” said Oakland A’s Team President Dave Kaval. “This move is a very big milestone for the team.”Speaking of new games in town, construction on the MSG Sphere is continuing, which is good news since U2 just announced seven additional concert dates in the fall for the 400-feet-high by 500-feet-wide arena that is being built behind The Venetian Las Vegas.
