This Casino Games Popularity Increased with 194%
Cash or Crash Games Rose to Rapid Success and Never Lost It
Ever since the first vastly popular Cash or Crash game – the live game show of the same name by Evolution Gaming, “conquered” the category of “Other” casino games shortly after its release in September 2021, market observers were aware that something big might be coming up.
Yet, when the titles by one particular young game studio – Spribe, gained a 194% monthly increase in unique active user shares between July and August 2022, according to data provided by SevenJackpots, Indian online gambling market researchers focused their attention.
Spribe was producing mainly Cash or Crash games like Aviator, Mines, Goal, and Plinko, an innovative casino gaming genre that had rocked the charts measuring online casino gaming success and had obviously come here to stay.
Digging deeper into primary data on aggregate user sessions and turnovers for the first 10 months of last year provided by one of India’s leading casino gaming web platforms, the research & analytics team at SevenJackpots dug out a number of interesting findings and published these in their report titled “Crash Games Making Waves in Online Gambling”.
It turned out that the games by Spribe had increased their share of active players by two thirds (66.68%) in the trimester covering August to October, 2022, compared to the whole analysed period of January to October last year, while turnovers generated by Spribe products rose by 44.2%.
A quick glance at Google Trends reveals that searches for “Aviator Game” – the market star among all products by Spribe and the flagship game of the new genre, has not only not lost on its success, but has even doubled the attracted interest from the traction registered last August to March 2023.
Why Did Crash Games Become so Popular?
The enormous success enjoyed by Crash games did not come overnight, even if it was fast and filled with rapid spikes like the 194% monthly jump in active users. Many of the current hit titles were developed in 2019, but their fast-paced climb to popularity began only in 2022, fueled by a number of factors examined by the SevenJackpots research paper.
Most important, naturally, is the provably fair technology for generating random numbers and bet outcomes borrowed from the world cryptocurrencies and blockchain. In fact, crash games started their existence in crypto casinos and took many years before becoming a thing in mainstream online casino sites in 2022.
Provably fair algorithms work by combining a publicly available seed from the operator’s server with a seed generated by the player’s device and hashing it in SHA512. This allows every player to check and verify the fairness of each round of the game played.
The very concept of Cash or Crash games was inspired by the volatility of the cryptocurrency market where one can multiply their fortune quickly, but if they fail to cash out on time before the market crashes, they will lose all their investments.
The provable fairness and the thrill of binary decision making, combined with simple gameplay, a low house edge, light device resource and data usage, and options for social interaction like chats and live player statistics, make the new gaming genre strongly appealing to young and tech-savvy Indian gamers, the authors of the study point out.
