Despite spending three long years soliciting bids for the Fourth National Lottery Licence – with the help of Rothschild & Co — we’ve heard very little from the Gambling Commission or any of the respective bidders regarding the future of the National Lottery.

So it will come as a surprise to many that last week marked the conclusion of the process for the bidders. Over the next few months, civil servants at the under-resourced Gambling Commission will deliberate over the bids and decide on whether to bring change to an institution that has only ever known one operator since launching in 1994.
