Terre Haute Casino to host procurement event

Companies looking to do business with the new Terre Haute Casino Resort will have an opportunity on Wednesday to pitch their ideas to officials with Churchill Downs Inc. The casino is looking for businesses that can provide services such as marketing, landscaping, and food products.

The event is the second of two as CDI inches closer to completing construction on the resort, which includes a 400,000-square-foot casino building with 56,000 square feet of gaming space featuring 1,000 slots and 50 table games, as well as a 125-room hotel.

The procurement event will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Indiana Small Business Development Center offices in the Scott College of Business on the campus of Indiana State University.

Participants will have the opportunity to pitch their businesses and services to CDI Vice President and General Manager Mike Rich.

The casino says minority-owned and women-owned businesses are being encouraged to participate. CDI minority-, female-, and disabled veteran-owned businesses to help build the casino and hotel.

Officials broke ground on the $290 million project last June. The price tag for the casino increased by $30 million due to industry costs, the developer said in December.

CDI previously said the casino will create a $190 million economic impact to the city. The casino is expected to open in June 2024.
