Southland Casino in Arkansas Offering More in its Hiring Efforts
Southland Casino Racing in Arkansas has increased its hiring bonus to $2, 000. The casino resort is located in West Memphis, across the Mississippi River.
Last month announced a $1, 000 bonus for certain jobs. The casino and the race track had also extended on-site interviews through 11th November.
Apart from bonuses, the casino resort is also promising non-tipped employees $15 an hour. Interviews are conducted on Tuesdays and include spots for a job like cooks, dealers, cage cashiers and slot tech supervisors.
Southland resort is considered an important casino market in larger Memphis, Tennessee. The state lacks a commercial casino. The casino suffered a decline over the summer due to the closure of Interstate 40 Bridge hampering traffic from Memphis to West Memphis.
However, the bridge has reopened, and Southland is extending the hiring period amid a $250 million expansion. The expansion looks to add a 300 room hotel and gaming complex scheduled to be complete by 2022.
Meanwhile, the greyhound track at Southland is set to cease operating at the end of 2022 leaving West Virginia and Iowa as the only states with legal dog racing. Dog racing in Iowa is also scheduled to end next year, leaving West Virginia as the only state with greyhound racing.
