Slot machines featuring legendary N.J. music star unveiled at Atlantic City casino
Slots machines featuring images, video and music from a legendary music star from New Jersey have been added at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City.
Whitney Houston slots are now in place at the Hard Rock and five other casinos in the country with more of the machines to be added soon at 12 other casinos nationwide, according to International Game Technology, which operates the devices.
Created in collaboration with The Estate of Whitney E. Houston and Primary Wave Music, the slot machines will play several of the Newark-born star’s hits as gamblers pull the levers and try to defy the long odds to win money.
Among the songs the machines will play are “I Wanna Dance with Somebody,” “So Emotional,” and “How Will I Know.”
The most striking of the various slot machines stands 11 feet tall and features two 55-inch, 4K resolution curved-edge LCD screens.
The top jackpot is about $500,000.
Houston spent most of her childhood in East Orange and lived in Mendham as an adult. A member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Houston won eight Grammy Awards, two Emmy Awards and dozens of other major music awards. She was also inducted posthumously into the New Jersey Hall of Fame and a service area on the Garden State Parkway in Union County is also named for Houston.
Houston died in Beverly Hills, California at age 48 in February 2012 after overdosing on cocaine an drowning in the bathtub of a hotel room.
