LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) - After over 30 years in business, The Mirage will close its doors on July 17.

Tourists and Las Vegas Valley residents alike are already making their final trips to say their goodbyes to the iconic hotel and casino.

“I’ve been coming here for years, ever since they opened, basically,” Houston, Texas Tourist Eugene Wagner says.

Lori Keller, a tourist from Seattle, Washington, says she’s visited The Mirage since it opened in 1989.

Keller and her husband made the trip to see The Beatles LOVE, before the final show on July 7.

“We’ve been coming here as a family ever since I can remember,” Keller says. “It’s just sad to see it go.”

Not all visitors are coming from across state lines.

Jaxon Lewton, a 14-year-old northwest valley resident, says he visited the hotel because he appreciates the history of the Strip.

“As a proud Las Vegas local I like to remember the history of our city,” Lewton says. “I think that the old casinos just play such a big part in this town.”

He made a similar trip to the Tropicana with his grandpa back in April.

He says he’s hoping to snag some memorabilia, and see the terrarium for the last time before the hotel closes its doors for good.

“Old Las Vegas just has more interesting facts about it than new Vegas. You can look at the sphere and see how cool that is, but we could also look at places like the Tropicana,” Lewton says.

The hotel, which is set to open its doors in 2027, will feature a nearly 700-foot guitar shaped hotel in the center of The Strip.
