Point Edward recently received $375,814 from the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp. as its share of gambling revenue from the Starlight Casino from April to June.

The village gets a cut of gaming revenue from the site as host municipality for the waterfront casino.

The payments are made four times a year and Point Edward has received a total of $50.8 million since the casino opened in April 2000.

Sarnia received $90,351 as its payment for the same period as host of the Gateway Casinos Sarnia location at Hiawatha Horse Park.

Gateway Casinos Sarnia has 150 slot machines; the larger Port Edward casino has 494 machines and table games. Both locations are operated by Gateway Casinos and Entertainment.

Sarnia has received a total of $27.3 million since the Hiawatha gaming site at Hiawatha debuted in May 1999.

In the quarter covered by the latest payments, Gateway’s Ontario casinos closed for two weeks following a ransomware attack. The Sarnia and Point Edward sites reopened in early May.
