PIGO joy for Manila pair
Resorts World Manila and Solaire Resort and Casino properties have been officially licensed to offer online gaming to domestic punters. The licenses are to give the venues the ability to provide a wide range of iGaming entertainment.
The PIGO experiment allows land-based casino operators to earn revenues even as their venues are shuttered owing to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The government of the Philippines closed all of Manila's casinos for a second time from March 29 to stop the spread of a virus responsible for the deaths of over 17,600 locals.
Okada Manila's operator, Tiger Resort Leisure and Entertainment Incorporated, is planning to start with online table games and slot machines.
Domingo's organization needs to regulate PIGO licenses. The regulator claims that the limited number of licenses will aid in non-proliferation and responsible gaming.
PAGCor's first-quarter gross gaming revenues dropped by 51.4% to $172.37 million. Its associated net profit plummeted by approximately 80% and it made a loss of $3.14 million in the first quarter. PAGCor is responsible for 19,900 slots and over 2,000 gaming tables.
Domingo is lobbying President Rodrigo Duterte for permission to partially re-open land-based casinos in metropolitan Manila.
